Program will benefit Charlestown beautification efforts

The City of Charlestown’s banner program – Charlestown Honors – returns for 2021 to recognize active duty and veteran service men and women. The recognition banners will line Market Street through Charlestown beginning in September, and run through November 15th. Charlestown Honors banners are full-color, double sided heavy

duty vinyl and measure 48” long by 18” wide. Banners may be sponsored by individuals or businesses at a cost of $65 per banner, and all proceeds raised through the program will benefit future Charlestown beautification efforts. The cost includes the banner and installation, the city covers the cost of the bracketing and hardware. Those who participated in the program last year, can rehang their banner if they choose for a $20 rehanging fee. Please bring the banner to City Hall by August 15. Order Online Here

Disclaimer & Limitations

Banners will remain in place until November 15th. Upon removal, the banners will be made available for pickup to the honoree or honoree’s family. You may opt to save your banner to be hung again the following year in exchange for a donation, should the program continue - but please note that there may be some color fading or other wear due to the sun and weather. Specific banner locations will be determined by the city and unfortunately cannot be requested due to logistics and time constraints. Locations with poor visibility (tree coverage, etc) will be avoided to ensure each banner is visible. The City of Charlestown is not responsible for replacing banners that are stolen, damaged, or destroyed due to age, vandalism, or any acts of nature including high winds. Any loss or damage to an installed banner will be handled on a case by case basis. Banners do fall from time to time, but this is a rare occurrence and our crews check them each day – losses of this nature are very rare. By submitting your photo you agree to your honorees image, name, and related service information being shared publicly on the banner as well as online in the city’s recognition efforts.
