The Charlestown Redevelopment Commission will meet on Monday, November 16th at 6:00 p.m. in a special session to review and submit for approval OCRA Small Business Grant Program Round 2 Recipients. This meeting will be conducted virtually via Zoom. The meeting will be video-streamed live online and later archived to the city's Youtube page. The video stream will begin at 5:55pm and may be viewed via this link.
The Selection Committee will review 23 eligible applications for Round 2 of the City’s Small Business Grant Program. This program is funded by an Indiana Office of Community & Rural Affairs (OCRA) grant in the amount of $250,000. The maximum grant amount allowed per business is $10,000.
The Selection Committee received applications in excess of the $145,000 remaining for Round 2, so the committee utilized the following criteria to prioritize applications for funding, as stated in the City’s grant application to OCRA and in the policies published by the City:
• The degree to which businesses have been impacted due to being considered “non-essential” and have lost their sources of revenue
• The degree to which businesses primarily provide public-facing retail or public-facing services and have lost their sources of revenue • The degree to which the business has been directly impacted by new public health requirements (social distancing) related to the COVID-19 pandemic • The number of jobs retained as of the date of the application, as well as, the number of jobs that are planned to be rehired due to the assistance from the City • The level of participation by the business’s in other federally funded programs such as the Payroll Protection Plan and/or Small Business Administration’s Economic Disaster Injury Grant and Loan Programs • Businesses that are Minority, Women or Veteran owned • Businesses that employ at least 51% low and moderate income persons

In this time of unique circumstances due to COVID-19 and in accordance with Governor Holcomb's Executive Order 20-08, public comment may be submitted by email to be read at the meeting up until 5:00 p.m. on the day of the meeting via email to Mayor@CityofCharlestown.com.
At this time and until further notice, all City of Charlestown public meetings will be conducted virtually and live-streamed to the public as a COVID-19 precaution.
