Garbage Truck Contest winners announced

Upon the arrival of the new City of Charlestown garbage truck in June, the city held an art contest for students to create an image to be placed on the receptacle.

Judges of the contest, which had several fantastic entries, were Jason Dunn (City of Charlestown Sanitation Supervisor), Jessica Carroll (New Washington State Bank and Greater Clark Education Foundation), and Gregg Grimes (JayC Store Manager).

The winners of the contest were Sophia Spainhour (Charlestown Middle School, sixth grade) and Cheyenne Knigge (Jonathan Jennings Elementary School, third grade).

Their artwork will be turned into a vinyl wrap to be applied to the side of two separate garbage trucks for all to see as trash is collected throughout the city.

Honorable mentions were Haleigh Been (Charlestown Middle School, sixth grade) and Harper Hart (Jonathan Jennings Elementary School, third grade).
